Creating a Donut Chart from a Current Default Pie Chart

You can add a hole to the middle of your pie chart to create a donut chart.

About this task

You can display something in the hole of donut charts, such as a company logo or the legend.

Procedure

  1. Select the pie chart object.
  2. In the Properties pane, under General, set the Hole size (%) property to the percentage of the pie that you want the hole to take up.
    Tip: You can select a value from the Hole size (%) list or type a value that is not listed.
  3. To display the legend in the donut hole, do the following steps:
    1. Select the chart.
    2. In the Properties window, double-click the Legend property.
    3. In the Position box, click the Advanced radio button and then click the ellipsis button.
    4. In the Position box, click the Center and Middle icons.
    5. In the Anchor box, click the menu and select Relative to Chart Body.
    6. Click OK twice.
  4. To display an image in the donut hole, do the following steps:
    1. Click the Unlock icon Unlock icon to unlock the report.
    2. Click the chart body. In the Properties window, Properties - Chart Body appears.
    3. Double-click the Background Effects property.
    4. Select the Images check box.
    5. Under URL, click Browse and select the image that you want to display in the donut hole.
    6. Under Position, click the Align Middle Center icon.
    7. Click OK.
